The Watch

Post by T'Pau »

The Watch is a fantasy police procedural television program inspired by the Ankh-Morpork City Watch from the Discworld series of fantasy novels by Terry Pratchett. The series, developed by BBC Studios for BBC America, is set to premiere on 3 January 2021.

I caught the first episode early and aside from heavily accented dialogue that required replay a few times, it is quite a wild story. Looking forward to the second epsiode which is attached to the premier of the series on BBC America tonight.

For those Game of Thrones fans, the lead of this show is Richard Dormer, who lived and died and lived again and died again (and so on and so on) as Lord Beric Dondarrion, known as the "Lightning Lord", the leader of the "Brotherhood Without Banners".

Looks like a fun bit of escapism, much needed in these deepening times of pandemic lunacy.

Update: 2nd episode was good as well, and easier to understand all the dialects. Yay!
