It's "Goa'uld" and "idiots".

Honestly, they were always overconfident morons; at this point the SGC has realized that, and started exploiting it more.

The Goa'uld had ruled the galaxy for a long time. Only the Asgard could stand up to them, and they were mostly uninterested in warfare with the System Lords. Thus the Goa'uld became overconfident and complacent, and when they met an enemy that was actualy a threat they were unable to properly deal with them.

Without spoiling anything, let's just say that some more competant System Lords appear later.

They couldnt believe people didnt think they were gods.

On that note, did the individual system lords really believe they were gods?

Unknown, though I can see it as a possibility. After so long proclaiming they were gods, I can easily see them starting to believe their own propaganda.

For those who have seen the series
Didn't Baal say that they weren't, and many of them knew it at some point?

Ah but that person was always more down to Earth and rational. Ones like Ra or Apothis (Know I spelt that wrong...) seem to really buy into it.

Ra and Apophis were just two.
Amaterasu, Yu, Camalus, Quetesh and to some extent Nerus, showed signs they didnt really believe it.

Cronus seemed fairly sure of his own divinity.

Seth too. That episode was slightly freaky. I think being on Earth so long, he really wen't nuts.

I was kind of disappointed Seth wasn't a bigger character. He's about as evil as you can get in Egyptian Mythology.

Don't they have his body at the end of the episode? Where you are now in the series Goa'uld lords begin dropping like flies.
