He's still going to do Suicide Squad 2 (without Will Smith whom has a scheduling conflict) first, before moving on to Guardians of The Galaxy 3.Redemption and second chances have long been superhero movie staples, and today it looks like life has imitated art. I’ve learned that Disney has reinstated James Gunn as the writer-director of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and I’ve confirmed it with Marvel and Gunn’s camp.

Re: Disney Reinstates Director James Gunn For ‘GoTG 3"
Interesting times... Disney reacted too fast in the first place. I think that when the 'controversy' (which was totally manufactured by people who don't like Gunn's politics) blew up, Disney just default assumed that they'd look really bad if they kept him on. In fact they drew a lot of flak on themselves for dumping him, including from the stars of the movie. If they'd told everyone they were going to take a month to look at the situation before acting, I doubt that they would have taken any action against him in the first place.
Also interesting that he's doing a DC and a Marvel movie back to back. There's some animosity between the fandoms, maybe this will help to build some bridges?

Cool. It would be hard to image another without him.
As for building bridges with DC fans... I'm confused, there are DC fans?

Depends on what part of DC you're talking about, too.Graham Kennedy wrote:There are some!IanKennedy wrote:Cool. It would be hard to image another without him.

There are certainly some good DC stuff. However, they tend to be a decade, or more, old.
The original "Christopher Reeve" Superman movies where excellent. Superman Returns was pretty decent.
Batman and Batman Returns, again, pretty excellent. What followed, not so much.
Batman Begins, Dark Night, and Dark Night Rises again great... but then it all goes to pot.

DC fans certainly with the animated movies. Those are well made and written.
The newest version of the Death of Superman, is very well done.
Spoilers, Superman dies in it. Sorry.

I think if you look carefully, there's kind of a hint in the title. Kind of a subtext thing.McAvoy wrote:DC fans certainly with the animated movies. Those are well made and written.

Very well-hidden, though. I'm still amazed they could cover it so well!Graham Kennedy wrote:I think if you look carefully, there's kind of a hint in the title. Kind of a subtext thing.McAvoy wrote:DC fans certainly with the animated movies. Those are well made and written.

I seem to recall one of the reasons Disney gave for firing Gunn was to protect their "family-friendly image".
But now that Disney has bought FOX and are now the proud owners of properties such as Deadpool, I'm not sure they can claim that as an issue.
