Hah, it is quite a difficult film to watch for the dark scenes. I think I like it because it feels really honest about what it is. The 'romance' is never more than implied (if heavily at the end), the dialogue is smooth and reasonably uncomfortable if not very detailed. It's all about the mecha/monster romp and the rest is merely some threading knitting it all again. I really appreciate it's simplicity. The SFX are enjoyable as well, ofc!

From what I've read, Raul Julia had stomach cancer, and did Street Fighter because it was his childern's favorite movie. Also to leave them a heft paycheck after he died. For that reason alone, among others, I can never hate it.

There is nothing guilty about loving Monty Python films.

One hundred percent agreed. No guilt at all. They are the quintessential example of British comedy done right. Benny Hill isn't bad, it just can't compare.

Just saw the trailer for Pacific Rim 2 on a morning news program. John Boyega (Star Wars VII, The CIrcle) leads the cast. Doesn't release until March 2018, but the trailer appeared to feature new kaiju and new Jaegers. Could be fun!

I don't feel 'guilty' about it, and love it unabashedly, but...

Jack Reacher. I think Tom Cruise was a terrible choice for the role, but the movie was good. I have almost all of the Jack Reacher novels, and he's supposed to be 6'5" and 240 lbs. Dolph Lundgren would have been a much better choice for the role.
