The favourite movies of your life

Post by Graham Kennedy »

Challenge : list your favourite movie from each year that you have been alive. Just ONE per year!

For years where you struggled to choose, you can list the movies that made it a tough call.

For me :

1969 - Where Eagles Dare
1970 - Tora! Tora! Tora!
1971 - Fiddler on the Roof
1972 - Cabaret
1973 - The Sting
1974 - Blazing Saddles
1975 - Jaws
1976 - Midway
1977 - Close Encounters of the Third Kind
1978 - Superman
1979 - Star Trek: The Motion Picture (Yes... TMP beat out Alien.)
1980 - Airplane!
1981 - Raiders of the Lost Ark
1982 - Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (Yes... instead of Blade Runner. Or ET.)
1983 - WarGames
1984 - Ghostbusters
1985 - Back to the Future
1986 - Top Gun
1987 - The Princess Bride
1988 - Die Hard
1989 - Batman
1990 - Presumed Innocent
1991 - Terminator 2: Judgment Day
1992 - A Few Good Men
1993 - Jurassic Park
1994 - True Lies
1995 - GoldenEye
1996 - Independence Day
1997 - The Fifth Element
1998 - Deep Impact
1999 - Notting Hill
2000 - Gladiator
2001 - The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
2002 - The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
2003 - The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
2004 - Troy
2005 - King Kong
2006 - Superman Returns
2007 - 300
2008 - The Dark Knight
2009 - Avatar
2010 - Inception
2011 - Margin Call
2012 - Skyfall
2013 - Gravity
2014 - Guardians of the Galaxy
2015 - Jurassic World
2016 - Arrival
2017 - Wonder Woman (so far)

Any thoughts on my choices? What's your list like?

This is by far the hardest favorites list I have ever put together on any subject. Trying to limit it to one movie a year is a near impossible task. Particularly if you do not have a clear favorite. But I did my best (you should have seen my honorable mentions before I widdled it down).

1969: Battle of Britain (HM-Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid)
1970: Tora! Tora! Tora! (HM--MASH)
1971: Diamonds Are Forever (HM—Big Jake)

1973: The Sting
1974: Blazing Saddles (HM—The Great Gatsby)
1975: Hustle
1976: Midway
1977: The Spy Who Loved Me (HM—A Bridge Too Far)
1978: Animal House
1979: Moonraker (HM—The Warriors)
1980: The Blues Brothers (HM—Airplane!, Caddyshack)
1981: For Your Eyes Only (HM—Cannonball Run)
1982: Rocky III
1983: Octopussy (HM—Trading Places)
1984: The Natural
1985: Pale Rider
1986: Running Scared (HM—Nothing In Common)
1987: The Untouchables
1988: Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (HM—Eight Men Out)
1989: Batman

In the spirit of honesty, I didn't come up with it. Saw it done on another forum.
