They're really not impressing me with the mummy design.

Looks like a poor copy of the Brendan Fraser / Rachel Weisz one. Directly copying the sand wall with a face it in scene for one

Re: The Mummy - Official Trailer #2
Remember when Hollywood started re-making classic films from the 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's back in the 90's and 00's. Now in the mere 10's, we're remaking movies from the 90's and 00's that may or may not have been classics. Based on this, we should be getting reboots of The Matrix, Gladiator, and Jurassic Park any year now...
Don't you hear my call, though you're many years away, don't you hear me calling you?

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but we had Jurassic World a couple years ago, and there's a Matrix Reboot in the works. Ridley Scott keeps talking about making a sequel to Gladiator. There was a Ben Hur remake that everyone missed last year.Bryan Moore wrote:Remember when Hollywood started re-making classic films from the 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's back in the 90's and 00's. Isn't that what they're doing with this? I though it was meant to be a remake of the 30's version.Bryan Moore wrote:Remember when Hollywood started re-making classic films from the 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's back in the 90's and 00's.

Well, that was... boring. And didn't look to be 'fun'. I wanna have fun with a mummy movie!

Re: The Mummy - Official Trailer #2
Hmm. None of the class or elegance of the '30's film, and none of the light-hearted fun of the Fraser/Weisz one. It seems like I've been having to repeat this a great deal, but it sure seems like modern filmmaking is going for the whole "pretty but vacant" ideal.
BTW, if the mummy is supposedly Egyptian - because of the artifacts around the site and because of the explicit description to that effect - why is her face covered in Mesopotamian, NON-Egyptian, characters?

Because research is hard. [/whiny_voice] And making it fun to make up for it is hard, too.[/whiny_voice]Mikey wrote:Hmm. After that very disappointing League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie, I am bracing for the news that an adult Tom Sawyer is in this movie.
