Looks good. But so did the Prometheus trailer. I am cautious. This is my cautious face.

Agreed. Between film and television, I have in the last couple of years noticed a significant drop in quality from those projects which Scott directed and those he produced.

My observation of Scott, based on listening to a few of his commentary tracks, is that he is superb at visuals but he really doesn't have that much of a feel for character or plot. As such he really should be sure to team himself up with writers who are strong on solid, coherent stories. Sometimes he does, and you get great movies as a result.

In Prometheus he hired Damon Lindelof, a man who really doesn't appear to care whether what he writes makes any sense or not. In fact I'd go further and say he actively seems to avoid making sense. That's where Prometheus fell apart, IMO.

Is the alien franchise officially a dead horse?
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Interesting behind the scenes stuff on the weapons, blood, etc used in Covenant.

I think my disappointment in Prometheus cooled my excitement for future Aliens related movies. I was so excited for Prometheus, more so than Avengers, but it was so disappointing. I was hoping that I would be that same feeling I get from Bladerunner. What is the movie saying about humanity, or what it means to see your god? Instead it was all so disjointed and underwhelming and confusing. I had to turn to youtube for someone to explain this movie to me.

Anywya, here's a short story prolouge to Alien: Covenant.

Published on Apr 26, 2017

The Crossing, an official prologue short to Alien: Covenant, reveals what happened to crew members Dr. Elizabeth Shaw and the synthetic David after the events of Prometheus. Set aboard an abandoned Engineer vessel, Dr. Shaw repairs David as they continue their search for humanity’s creators.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
