Warcraft - Official Trailer (HD)

Post by Nutso »

From Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures comes Warcraft, an epic adventure of world-colliding conflict based on Blizzard Entertainment’s global phenomenon.

The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.

So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.

Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) and written by Charles Leavitt and Jones, the film starring Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Rob Kazinsky and Daniel Wu is a Legendary Pictures, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment production.

LOVE Travis Fimmel. I am still amazingly uninterested in this.

I never played the game so Ido not have that connection. However, I do prefer a solid fantasy/scifi movie better than basically and drama or such so I am much more likely to see it than an average movie like Concussion or the 33
Ugh... do not thump the Book of G'Quan...

I played all the games. It has some nice lore.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Normally I do too. However, I still require that the SF/fantasy movie in question have some redeeming quality to the writing a/o production.

Warcraft has had some very good books written in universe, some shitty ones, but it does have a rich legendarium.

No doubt, something can't be as popular as Warcraft has been without some good fluff growing up around it. My point isn't the store of material, it's just that the movie looks trite and formulaic.

Imho it was always a bad move that they turned the Orcs from just plain evil like they were in Warcraft 1+2 into "noble savages", just poor and misunderstood and a bit demon-posessed, but honorable and loyal etc. etc.

Similarily my interest in the movie is pretty much zero. From what I've seen in the trailer it's the same apologetic "oh..their world is dying...they had NO CHOICE invading azeroth, destroying a whole kindgom". It's like saying Germany had no choice invading Poland and Russia..they just needed the living space there.

I mean I am all for characters with multiple layers but sometimes....it is just better to go with the cliché. I like my orcs green and mad and delightfully evil.

I will go see it as Warcraft and Blizzard games took up alot of my free time in the 90's.
