Chris Pine in Wonder Woman movie

Post by Graham Kennedy »

Chris Pine has closed a deal to play Steve Trevor opposite Gal Gadot in the stand-alone "Wonder Woman" movie for Warner Bros. Pictures says The Wrap.

Gadot's first appearance in the role of Diana Prince will take place in next year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", but Pine's character won't appear until the dedicated "Wonder Woman" film which Patty Jenkins is directing and which opens June 2017.

Pine joins the DC Movie Universe in a multi-picture deal that includes sequel options. It also puts to rest rumors of Pine playing the Hal Jordan incarnation of DC superhero Green Lantern.

Steve Trevor will reportedly be no mere love interest and will have plenty of action in the film which is scripted by Jason Fuchs. Pine is currently filming Justin Lin's "Star Trek Beyond".
Interesting... I'm starting to hope Bat vs Supes might turn out good... would be nice if the WW movie does then follow. I never read comics much as a kid, so outside the Superman movies and Adam West Batman, Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman was really the only superhero I knew back then. I have reservations about Gadot in the role, but it sure would be nice to see WW back as an ongoing thing - and Pine being involved can only be good news, IMO. I'm coming to really like that guy, even outside Captain Kirk.

Thanks, Graham. My greatest exposure to Wonder Woman was one of the larger sources of info/exposure I have of her. This is looking up.

Ass wasn't her only notable feature. ;)

Now here's an outfit with a nigh-impossible job...

Part of me now wonders what an Adam West Batman/Christopher Reeve Superman/ Lynda Carter Wonder Woman team-up would've been.

I think the Christopher Reeve Superman would be too serious for those two. Personally I always placed Reeve Superman with the Keaton Batman.

Really? :? I knew Reeve Superman was a big step forward in the genre taking itself seriously, but I didn't think that far.

If you look at the Reeve Superman while he wasn't dark like the new one is, it wasn't even close to being campy unlike the Adam West Batman.

Well, yeah. He's hailed as one of the first superhero movies to take itself relatively seriously. But I still don't think it was that seriously. Maybe some tweaking would be required, I dunno.

I think that tweaking is a result of the budget and then period really.

Man of Steel is only a small part of what Superman can do when he uses his full strength. Imagine Doomsday.
