Masters Of The Universe Movie: Possible First Look At Battle Cat Hits Twitter

Credit: Dreamworks Classics

As one of the premier cartoons of the '80s, it was only a matter of time before He-Man and the Masters of the Universe made its way to the silver screen. Of course, it wouldn't be the first time (there was that terrible 1987 disaster), but fans are hoping that the second real attempt to bring He-Man to movies will be a bit more successful. Anything is better than that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, right?

The only problem is that details about the movie are basically non-existent. Aside from the fact that fans know the movie is being made, nothing else about the project has been revealed. It probably doesn't help that the studio backing the movie is going through a major personnel change-up, but either way: fans want to see something.

Well, it might not be much - or real - but the first image of He-Man's trusty steed has just hit Twitter...and it's awesome.

Considering it's called 'Battle-Cat,' it definitely lives up to its name.

First and foremost, this is still just a rumor: while it certainly looks legitimate, there's no real way of telling if this is what Battle-Cat is going to look like. There's likely a long time to wait until He-Man hits theaters, and anything rendered with CG could go through some major changes - if it even makes it into the movie at all.

That being said, the tweet comes from one DeVon Franklin - a.k.a. the Senior VP of Production at Sony. While it's strange that the movie's first big reveal was from a senior executive and not someone directly involved with production, it's not as if it's coming from some obscure fansite, either.

Could this be what Battle-Cat is going to look like in the movie? Yes, it could - but it could also be radically different in the finished product. Whether or not it's real is up for debate, but until someone makes an official statement, everything is still up in the air.

May be Battle-Cat, may just be the finished work from the garage of a LARPer with a pet Persian.

Yeah. Dude was originally in the U.S. on a chemistry scholarship. Then he pursued chemical engineering through another scholarship. Was pursuing a Master in chemical engineering through another scholarship when Grace Jones spotted him in a nightclub. On the side he honed his martial arts and skills he learned as a Swedish Marine. Dolph is the man Dolph.
