Well, I was truly expecting to be quite disappointed and cynical about it. I am pleasantly disappointed in that expectation of disappointment.

Looks okay. I never did see the original.

I have never sat down and watched the whole movie all at once. It's always been one of those movies where I have seen all of it randomly. I see half an hour here and an hour there but randomly.

Yes, though I expected not to like.

Much as I should hate Mel Gibson, I recommend seeing the original. While there's certainly violence - including scenes in which the violence is predominant - there's more movie with acting instead of action than you'd guess.

The original Mad Max is very different than the sequels; Road Warrior and Thunderdome. Most people actually think of those two when they think of the Mad Max movies. The first really takes place before the fall of society. He is an actual cop, working with other police. There is a bit of a strange feel to it.

AS a ide, sometime in the last few years a movie came out that had a bit of a Road Warrior feel to it... something like a guy trying to get another person somewhere... but the "bad guys" were chasing them. Something like he was once part of the gang but left. Maybe it was the girl that left... ???

Are you talking about the re-make of Death Race with Jason Statham?

Same, here. I'd sit down, see parts of it and then, "Oh, ______ is on!" and then flip to it.

No to Death Race, Water World or Children of Men. It was more road warrior like in feel. Water World has the idea, but on land. There might have been three groups. The main character, the bad-guy gang, and maybe a "government" group, but it was a govt group that was barely holding on... ? Maybe the lead character was a bounty hunter...?

Are you talking about the one with the guys driving the custom, "future-y" rig across the wasteland? That's Damnation Alley featuring George Peppard and Paul Winfield.

No, it was within the last few years, 2-4.

If I could just remember ANY of the people in it...
