Merc with a Mouth

Post by Mikey »

Yes, the Deadpool trailer has been leaked... or "leaked." As much as Ryan Reynolds annoys me, this seems like the perfect supe role for him.

I thought the most Deadpool-ish moment (aside from breaking the fourth wall*) was showing his imminent victim the cartoon he had drawn of the victim's demise.

*Deadpool, for more casual fans of Marvel, happens to be the character who had a story involving him leaving the comic book and killing the Marvel artists and writers, and finally threatening to hunt down the readers.

Sadly, this was just a test reel. Last I heard, there is no forward progress on a Deadpool movie.

Poor Reynolds kid finally found a project that worked for him, and now this.

I watched that about ten times.

Why isn't this a movie yet?

20th Century Fox has the license to Deadpool and if you saw the first Wolverine movie, you saw how horrible they fucked up the Merc with a Mouth. If you didn't, here it is - they took away his mouth. They gave him arm blades so long not even an 8ft human could sheathe them in his forearm. They gave him Cyclops eye blasts. He's got some other teleporting power. But most importantly, they took away his mouth!

None of that explains why there's no Deadpool projects in the works. Unless they give a shit about continuity over profits, which in this case Fox shouldn't.

I choose to put the Origins version of Deadpool down to the fact that he wasn't "done" yet, wasn't completed, wasn't yet genetically stable, or whatever. I know there's no reason to believe that inherent in the movie, but I have to believe something of the sort in order to keep my head in a single figurative piece.

What is this Origins you speak of? :P

Guess I still can't cope.

Well, of course! Take a great way to do Deadpool's origin story... and fuck it up BEYOND MEASURE! Take away his defining characteristic. He's the Merc with a MOUTH. That's one of his biggest things. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bangwall: :bangwall: :bangwall:

Here's what they did in case anyone thinks I am using hyperbole or just being stupid. http://i.imgur.com/4Vq1WW4.jpg I dare not post the image itself for fear our more innocent members blow chunks at the sight of it.

I think they tried to be original without the red suit but in many cases where they stray too far from the origin, they totally screw it up.
