Actually, I was going to mention that movie as my favorite. But then, I'm partial to military comedies.

I guess of the serious submarine movies I've seen, I would say The Hunt for Red October.

If we extended this to include TV shows, then I'd say seaQuest.

I had a soft spot for SeaQuest. There was a lot of nonsense on it, but there was a good show under there somewhere struggling to get out. :)

I wanted so badly to feel that positive about it, but I couldn't even considering the upside of Scheider and Underwood.
