You could say that with Hawkeye and to an extent Captain America too. The Captain is still just a really strong human with heightened abilities like healing. But not in the class of Iron Man or Thor. Loki could have killed the Captain if he wanted to.

That was my main issue with the Bale films. Rather then being an excellent detective and a great scientist, he was just a rich kid with martial arts training and a load of toys.

I had the same issue. He didn't seem like the Greatest Directive idea from the comics or animated series. Just basically punched and fought his way through or used a new gadget he got from Fox.

Brings to mind the difference between the gadget filled Bond films, and the later ones where the tech takes a back seat and Bond gets buy with his brains and wits.

Speaking of which, Sky fall I liked in hindsight. I wasn't that prepared when I came in to see it in the theater. I expected gadgets and a spiffy new car. Literally got none of that. But got a great plot and a nice little circle back to the Connery movies which I had to rewatch because of Sky fall.

Also the Skyfall song is catchy too.

Just watching Casino Royale now. Aston Martin with a built in Medical Centre aside, it was refreshingly gadget free.

I did enjoy Q's quip about the exploding pen in Skyfall.

... because DC realized that if they were going to put Batman in the same story lines as the high powered heros he would need more going for him than just his utility belt. So they changed him to fit the need.

McAvoy wrote:Actually if it was a fight between Superman and Batman then I agree that its pretty dumb. Plenty of memes out there that demonstrates that. But if you do it where they team up. For example a villain like Brainiac for example with strength on par with Superman and much more intelligent but you require Batman to figure it out.

Or you could have Batman wear a Batman/Iron Man suit like he does in the comics.
It might not be a VS. flick but choosing to introduce the movie with a line from an explicitly Batman vs. Superman comic and more so one in which Batman has won... yeah, I'm not holding out hope for a team up.

Depends. The movies haven't really played up Batman as a super smart detective at all. In the comics it varies between him being a vigilante to being a super genius detective. Unfortunately Superman also varies in the comics from average intelligence to curing cancer as a hobby.

Hmm....personally I couldn't care less about such a movie.

Say about the Marvel movies what you will but at least they are incredibly (which means as much as they can realistically be when making blockbuster-movies) consistent in itself. With the exception of Hulk and Rodey they stayed with their cast and have ONE Iron Man, ONE Captain America, Thor, Black Widow etc. etc..

But DC? They are just like the comics.....all over the place. They make a superman remake, it bombs, make a new one with a new actor a few years later. Make Batman movies always with a new Batman, then finally get their shit together and making a triology in a consistent universe....but then loose the actor again, what I hear Ben Affleck will be the gasp "again new" Batman.

It is more than obivous that they have absolutely no clue nor ever had a plan how to do a crossover-movie and only do so because they hope to copy the avengers. But the avengers (while highly entertaining, hands down just an average movie) were only successful BECAUSE every major character got one full introduction movie with lots of secondary characters at least being present AND consistent in cast.

So yeah....DC......sure, make a Superman/Batman movie......but a crossover? Crossover from what? Dark Knight triology? The new superman move...or the one before?

It's the same with their animated stuff, I loved Batman TAS, Superman TAS and the Justice League. Why? Because they were all consistent playing in the same universe. But all their direct to dvd animated films? I have no clues how or if they should fit in.

It seems to me they are just making stuff up along the way with no clear plan or idea how they finally will arrive at a Justice League Movie, similar to the Avengers. (But then one have to say that they do have it a bit more difficult with their origin-stories. Batman is ok, Superman is also ok, but Wonderwoman? That's pretty much so much bullshit you would need to rewrite it compeltely for todays audience for it to not totally bomb.)

It is Ben Affleck

Why the fuck would they choose the most... dumbfucking motherfucking idiotic fucking choice on a successful Batman. Wait... I see now. They want to bomb Batman and Superman at the same time.
