Also it uses scale to help tell the story without dragging out the script. Two minutes of intro and you know enough to understand the world as a whole and whats going on. His speech to his rookie also allows the viewers a chance to catch up on small details that help tell the story for later on.

You're right, very well done exposition there. They got everything they needed to the audience without it ever feeling like an exposition dump and it grew from the story when it was characters talking and not narration.

Exactly, instead of people having to ask "hey whats going on" every other minute. The Rookie does it for you so you can just sit back and watch.

Yeah. That's what I love. There a plot (get the criminal) and a simple subplot (rookie being evaluated). Nothing to think about and they just got on with the show. This is a great introduction to Judge Dredd. I want more.

My brother has told me a lot of theaters in NZ that spend the money to upgrade to 3D show movies from the past few years at 10pm most weekdays. So most months you can see your favorite movie on the big screen even if it stopped show elsewhere years ago.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

In interesting news, several county LE instructors now using this film for ethics, strategy and logistics training. At first I laughed but then thought "not such a bad idea".
