Well I have this week off, and the shop is closed for the week. With a staff of two, the owner chooses to close the shop entirely for the duration of the vacation to let both of us get a break; there's no other staff to take the load. When I get back I'll open for three days by myself before he returns. The week after that, a normal schedule resumes.
The last couple of years I was able to coordinate this with my father, he'd arrange the same week off and we'd go down to a south NJ beach resort for a few days (I've no car and live with the folks). This we couldn't do this week since he's getting cataract surgeries on both eyes this summer. One's done and his other gets done this week. Since his boss won't give him those recovery days as sick days they've cut his vacation time. Anyway, I'm on my own. So, I've seen a couple of movies (Planet of the Apes and Lucy), go to a ballgame tonight and also Saturday - which will be Fireworks night at the ballpark following that game - and I'll head to Coney Island on Thursday afternoon to take in a little bit of beach and visit Luna Park
the most recent incarnation of the amusement park which resides therein. The historic Cyclone
roller coaster is still there and running, first built in 1927 and now a national historical monument.
