YouTube ranks 10 most popular superheroes

That... is close to what I'd think the ratings would be.

It's sensible to see Batman atop the list since he's one of the characters easiest to relate with. The fans watching and reading these characters don't have powers themselves, after all.

Also, it might count for something that Batman (and #3 Superman) are two of the older comic book superheroes. The earliest incarnation of Batman can be said to go as far back as a 1939 comic book.

Technically, Thor is far older of course, being a fricking ancient Norse God! He also has the rare distinction of having a day of the week named after him. Viewed a certain way, Thor's Day is about 52 times more popular than Christmas! :P

And Superman turned 75 this year. Pretty spry for a man his age. ;)

And he's still a couple thousand behind Thor...

Depends. IIRC in the comics Ragnarok's happened a few times already. It's a cycle of death and rebirth for them.

I would have imagined Thor not even being close. Just one movie and a second coming and The Avengers. I suppose that might include the 'Thor'.

I would have imagined Iron Man being number three after Batman and Superman. His popularity even skyward after the movies too.

Yeah, that is a bit surprising. Thor's been a classic, but he's never really been at the very top of the heap. Just Marvel alone there's Spider-Man, Wolverine...
