After 3 months of my internet being locked down to only 30mb a day I have finally been able to post the Christmas episode of our Podcast.

A review of mine, Tsu and Aarons 3 favorite movies, The Thing, Shawshank Redemption, Home Alone, Hobo with a Shotgun, The outlaw Jocey Wells, The big Libowski, Fight Club and Serenity.

To clarify, I went with The Thing (1982). Also, Watchmen.

The Outlaw Josey Wales. That penultimate scene, with Eastwood walking forward slowly toward the red-leg captain and dry-firing his Patersons one chamber with each step... no matter what SF or horror monster you can cite, I can't think of a movie moment in which I thought more that the recipient of the action was shitting his drawers.

I havent yet seen a single one of Aarons movie choices. Hobo with a shotgun is first on my list.

Just edges out a similar scene in Pale Rider for best Western climax scene IMO.

Pale Rider's is far more understated though.

You've never seen it either?! Dear Lord, how our youth's education has been neglected. Phenomenal movie - the definitive revenge Western, even more so that Eastwood's Pale Rider (also a great one.) Tsu, you'd appreciate it just for the fact that it is one of few movies that depict pre-double-action revolvers actually being thumb-cocked before firing (though all the prop guns, for safety reasons, were cartridge conversions - but it's hard to tell unless you analyze it frame by frame.)

Aaron - I thought the best action scene from Pale Rider was the scene in front of the store with the axe handles.

Man I miss Eastwood as an actor, the Western genre is near dead and I can't think of anything recent that matches TOJW for things like costumes, sets, firearms, etc.

Open Range was fantastic. Otherwise, yeah not so many recently. 3:10 to Yuma remake was pretty solid.

Solid, but useless. The original is widely available and far superior.
