I have a minor OCD problem with the Wilhelm. Even when in a movie theater I point to the screen and (rather quietly) say "There it is" when they use it. It's like I can't help myself.
Ugh... do not thump the Book of G'Quan...

That's pretty understandable. It's iconic, but really overused.

I just heard it on the animated "Guardians of the Galaxy" yesterday. Drax got thrown by someone and they used the WS for Drax.

PS - The animated GotG is not very good.

Hmm, I've heard of it, but haven't seen it. Using the Wilhelm Scream is not a good indication.

This is the first I'd heard of that sound effect having it's own name, actually. In retrospect it does seem like a common thing.

The name of it does conjure the odd idea of invoking it in a documentary about the ill-fated Kaiser Wilhelm II. Perhaps he is depicted as falling (with the scream) when he announces his abdication of the throne? :P
