If such a thing would be possible...wouldn't the best use be making a non-lethal round? Delivering the energy over such a surface that it DOESN'T penetrate but knocks people out? The technology you describe would be perfect for this, retaining good ballistics and range but still being nonlethal. (The forcefield could deploy shortly before impact reducing speed via air-resistance for example).Graham Kennedy wrote:But the whole point is to make the bullet impact as much tissue as possible, because that's how it deposits energy into the tissue. The idea is to create the biggest cavity/shockwave possible.

My method allows the bullet to effectively make a tube through the target's body instead of the cavity, and have what looks like a meat puree flow out. If the power is still available, it can hit stuff behind the target too.Graham Kennedy wrote:But the whole point is to make the bullet impact as much tissue as possible, because that's how it deposits energy into the tissue. Even more fun with a gun like this timing the round. Shoot through a hostage using the small bullet, then after the field location exits the hostage it gets turned on. Go from a 4.5mm round through the hostage, to a 3cm+ impact on the target (for maximum shockwave/blending). It can also shoot through a target, and turn itself off after penetration so it only makes small holes afterward (or change the force field to as much drag as possible so it falls rapidly).
