Her devious decision in the Thaw. Brilliant plan, devious, keniving, and she got what she wanted.

Re: Janeway's Best Command Decisions
I recommend we change the title of the thread to Janeway's Least Worst Command Decisions else we risk getting an empty list.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

The Thaw but outside of that... I'm drawing a blank.
Re: Janeway's Best Command Decisions
I'm thinking "Admiral" Janeway's entire plot to get her crew back home early, and her willingness to sacrifice herself at the end.

For me, allowing the Doctor to become infinitely more than he was orginally intended to be.

Counterpoint. The bad guy made a good showing of having changed sides... and Janeway decided to cover her ass just in case, wisely as it turned out.
The Void. She took a bunch of implacable enemies and turned them into an alliance that solved the problem.

Re: Janeway's Best Command Decisions
Given that it was her own stupidity that necessitated the action I'm hard pressed to vote for that.Mark wrote:I'm thinking "Admiral" Janeway's entire plot to get her crew back home early, and her willingness to sacrifice herself at the end.

Several, but how many people were saved because he was allowed to develop more and not just kept as an emergency medic?

I may be wrong, but I don't remember his personality additions having anything to do with enhanced medical ability, so he would have saved those lives regardlessTyyr wrote:Several, but how many people were saved because he was allowed to develop more and not just kept as an emergency medic?

No, not entirely true Staplic, he learned to do creative things, like giving Neelix holographic lungs, the only one I can think of, Damn you Janeway for letting his creativity go farther than usual...

None of which could have been apparent to her when she made the decision; therefore, you can't judge the quality of the decision on those later occurences. Saving a bystander's life would be a "good" thing for you to do; if the man were to become a serial killer later on, and you had no idea that this was the case, it wouldn't detract from the "goodness" of your action.Lt. I'll go for ramming the Timeship - she had to reason to know it would reset the timeline, but it would at least have removed the thing.
