You arent suggesting she sedate him, are you? This is Janeway after all. If she's having a sleepless night, she shoots herself with a heavy stun shot, and sleeps like a baby.

No. I'm suggesting that maybe she had little/no choice but to shoot him at that moment.

And my point is its hypocritical to happily gun him down one second then complain about Herron doing the exact same thing a few seconds later.

Yeah, but come on, she gets her kicks by shooting crew men, I mean the doc wasn't off by too much in that one episode where he had the holoprogram... haha

All right. I wasn't commenting on the level of hypocrisy displayed-which was a lot-just the practicality of it.

These writers got so carried away trying to convince the audience of Janeway's greatness.

That all they did was make her look like a bitch and a hypocrite...

Well, there is a bit difference. She fired on stun (we know this because he lived). Herron fired with high enough power to vaporise/whatever the... slug thing.

Or maybe the creature was so weak that the stun setting obliterated it, we don't know what he used, or the strength of the creature. We do know however that settigs work differently on different species. So maybe this was just a really weak species.

Hmm - you might be onto something there.

Involved in massacres - check
Refusal to accept she's wrong - check
Commands a mixed bunch of her own people and others - check

There are quite a few similarities

That's another possibility - I was simply comparing Janeway's history with Galadriel's.
