Whale Probe
Whale Probe
Another thread got me thinking about what would have happened if Voyager had said "screw getting home, were gonna explore." Do you think that there is another Whale Probe they may have stumbled upon, or the first whale probe coming back?

Re: Whale Probe
Space is big. Very very big. The likelyhood of VOY finding the Whale Probe is somewhere between slim and nill. It's probably still out there somewhere, but probably not in VOY's flightpath.

Someone said yes, I want to know your reasoning behind it, I'm curious...

Re: Whale Probe
I doubt it, unless the writers got really desperate...

Re: Whale Probe
Just as much chance of the Defiant finding it next time it goes to the DQ after all.

Re: Whale Probe
I voted yes mainly because of the Probe book which was the sequel to Star Trek IV (story wise of course). It was going through Romulan space in that book so it is conceivable that Voyager could have run across it if the writers had wanted them too. It has been awhile since I read that book so I forget how it ended. I do admit I would have liked to know more about the Probe and where it came from but I never considered it being a story on Voyager when I watched the show. It would have seemed a bit reaching, maybe if there had been a Voyager book about them finding it that would have been OK.

Re: Whale Probe
Nope. As Rochey alluded to, even IF the probe came from/was returning to the DQ, there is still an infinitesimal chance of VOY actually encountering it.

Unless it occurred to B&B, in which case that magical "plot power" would have made all things possible.
