That's pretty much the point, Jack.Teaos wrote:So pointless it doesnt deserve to exist...
Black Jesus I guess you were trying to mock the retardedly large amount of "What if Voyager was..." threads around here, as you can see we already have one.
Re: What if Voyager was a Class Four Borg Tactical Cube???
This was my subtle attempt at asking people to come up with other creative ideas for discussion, and a place to generate new ideas for new threads. The thread name was meant to be an over the top joke....................
Actually, you were joking....but I wonder. What would the ethics be IN cloning the crew if no other options presented itself???

Doesn't cloning still involve birth? And, if the child was a clone, it would still need to grow up and be taught how to perform the specific task. We're talking about an 18 year game plan at the very least...doesn't sound like a viable option to me, anyway... REPLICATING the crew, on the other hand...

In modern RL ractice it does, but the idea of cloning doesn't require gestation of itself.steamrunner wrote:Doesn't cloning still involve birth?
The Founders seem to be able to turn around fully-grown and functional Jem'hadar MUCH faster than that. There's some sort of way to accelerate maturity.steamrunner wrote:it would still need to grow up and be taught how to perform the specific task. On the DS9 episode "The Abandoned", a baby Jem'hadar grows to almost full maturity in a matter of days, IIRC.Mikey wrote:...There's some sort of way to accelerate maturity.

It's kind of interesting physically - you'd need a hellacious rate of food intake - but not without precedent in RL. As far as the emotional development of a Jem'Hadar, well, the species isn't renowned for it's depth of feeling. They just need to be good killers. However, it would seem also that the Founders have "programmed" Jem'Hadar brains to instantly know most of what they need. It would be this more so than physical development that would be the really interesting part of growing an instant crew of slaves to Mistress Janeway: the long maturation curve of the human brain.Tsukiyumi wrote:On the DS9 episode "The Abandoned", a baby Jem'hadar grows to almost full maturity in a matter of days, IIRC.Mikey wrote:...There's some sort of way to accelerate maturity.

Well, Q DID offer to let her be the mother of his son. GOD, what if she'd said yes?

And here I thought the Q couldn't get much worse..Mark wrote:Well, Q DID offer to let her be the mother of his son. GOD, what if she'd said yes?
Guess this proves that (near?) omnipotence isn't correlated with super-intelligence.
