Even if not cutting out R&D ideas, helpful hints on saying "This is a quick job here, but this one just dig in because its going to be finished by your grand kids" would make a huge difference.

Ideas on how to better handle infrastructure ect.

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I like that the Human v Non-Human is already better in balance for Starfleet.

Not even considering things like the Borg or Dominion... The entire (note really but...) UFP fleet just got it's butt handed to them by a MINING SHIP!!!

A two hundred year advanced mining ship that planned for the attack.

Still a mining ship which shows them how far behind they could end up if they don't push onwards.

I think the most helpful; thing for the Federation will be just being made aware of the dangers out there. We should avoid the post TOS to TNG level of stupidity we see in a lot of their policies.

But it is JUST a mining ship, and the fleet was the Federation best.Teaos wrote:A two hundred year advanced mining ship that planned for the attack.
It is possible that a giant earth-mover in open pit mining today could lay havoc to a bunch of WW1 tanks... but that would probably have pushed the military to make better tanks faster than they did.

Lets put it this way, a whole army of musket men could do nearly nothing to a modern armored limo.Jim wrote:But it is JUST a mining ship, and the fleet was the Federation best.Teaos wrote:A two hundred year advanced mining ship that planned for the attack.

Using the ship analogy, a modern cargo container ship outfitted with modern naval guns could easily handle a ship of the line from the 1820's. Same difference.

I had little to no problem with Nero's ship doing that much damage. It was, what, 130- years or so more advanced?

Re: DS9 in Abrams verse
My bad, I guess it would be like a modern cargo ship vs a ship of the line from 1880. Still a one-sided affair with modern weapons.

Nah, 2389 - 2258 = 131 years.
