Yeah, I've contemplated it too. No real way to judge them, and better to have and not need in a case like that.

Exactly. Five people in a runabout stuck in the Delta Quadrant would have been in a lot more desperate situation. Depression and suicidal thoughts would become considerably more likely.

Would have made a pretty cool show, though, IMO.

Doubt it - they'd have got over all their worries by the end of the second or third episode and set off merrily homewards. There would have been the occasional relapse, but nothing that couldn't be resolved by the end of the episode. And of course, the condition of the runabout wouldn't in any way deteriorate over time.

They did the episode of Ent where the two were stuck and they discussed one killing himself so that the other would have more time.
