I love his LeForge has a primary characteristic as "black"
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Wasn't Wesley a girl called Leslie in the very early drafts? :?

Probably bounced back and forth between character ideas. Except for Geordi is "black."

Poor Dr. Crusher. She had absolutely no qualifier or personality concept even right from initial conception. No wonder it took them like 6 seasons and some female writing staff additions to actually write any personality into the female characters or give them important things to do.

Seeing this overview, it makes total sense that virtually all of the season 1 female cast complained of feeling like they weren't there for much other than "I'm a GIRL, who does x instead of a man!"

IIRC, the early character description for Dr Crusher said something like "She has the confident self assurance of a stripper".
Give a man a fire, and you keep him warm for a day. SET a man on fire, and you will keep him warm for the rest of his life...
