True, hard to beat the advice of a man who's dedicated his like to tending the land.

Well her species also are natural listeners.

I think what it comes down to, is that Guinan was always generally better written than Troi was. Troi from the very beginning was a bad idea.

Well, admittedly it's also based off my own fanon that Boothby is really also Uncle Martin from 'My Favorite martian'. ;)

She didn't just shut him up, she seemed to genuinely scare him. How the hell she managed to pull that off I don't know.

Unfortunately that thread is left dangling.

True enough.

Maybe, but it could be a blessing that we got to see some great character acting without the writers later on messing it up.

Although she only scared him when he wasn't omniscient, I don't remember them really ever being in the same area when he was.

In "Q Who" he stopped dead in his tracks when he saw her. As though he didn't know she was there.

I stand corrected, I though we only saw them interact when his powers were taken away.

My wife once actually stabbed her sister with a fork. My wife was about 6 or 7, and her sister said something about "being done." So, my wife stuck a fork in her.

Maybe (time always did seem to be different for her) she saw a flash of him ask Janeway to mate & he didn't want Jean Luc finding out :)

Oh, wait. It wasn't just when he was depowered. In the Borg debut didn't they interact? He had his powers then IIRC.
