Then I wonder what those other two nacelles are for on one of the Nebula varients. (see my avatar to see what I'm talking about)

It could either have been a test ship or back ups.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

It was most likely an experiment to see if it'd increase speed.

Could be another transwarp test bed. But if that were the case I'd imagin they would keep it close to the core.
