SFDebris: Starship Mine

Die Hard in space (just to get that out of the way  ). Or not, as the case may be. Another pretty good one, and it'll be interesting to see how much Chuck refers back to it when he gets onto discussing Rambo Picard in the later films.

I think it showcased Picard doing what made him great. He wasn't a fighter but a thinker. He didn't just walk up and punch them he out thought them. It also showed off Picard being an ice cold bastard leaving those schmucks to die.

I just wondered........if all circumstances were the same, but it was Kirk on HIS Enterprise, how do you suppose things would have been different?

Way more judo chops.

And he would have sexed all the women attacking the ship and turned them to his side.

He would have used, indeed, a mix of seduction, bluff and judo chops to retake his ship, and then made an aesop at the end regarding how bad it is to use violence to solve you problems.

Die Hard would have been a far more apt analogy.

It if would have been the Defiant or DS9, Sisko would probably have filled the ship with neurazine (or whatever can poison these terrorists) and let them die at the beam's power.

That or just block the transporters, seal the ship and leave them to die slowly while fully aware.

I like your way of thinking.

If he had the chance to do that, he'd probably have given them the chance to surrender, on the condition they snitch on their co-terrorist cells.

Was the Sisko really big on even offering surrender? I thought he had the "if they aren't smart enough to beg for it then they don't deserve it" ideal.

AFAIK, he'd always offer a way out that would further his end. He offered a way out to Leyton. He offered a way out to the Maquis and Eddington. He offered a way out to Gowron. To Quark on many occasions.

The only time he doesn't, it's to his friends because he wants them to stand up to him.
