Okay. Usually, I don't go and nitpick random errors and plot holes in episodes, but I think Identity Crisis to be quite a good episode, with a healthy dose of horror related to the transformation into an alien. the investigative part was well done, and the whole episode was, in my mind, a good Sci-Fi horror drama.

It's just that.. there are stuff I simply want to slap the author/producers silly for these mistakes.

1- People are worried that George might want to transform and want to leave the Enterprise. He casually proposes to be monitored at all time by the computer. Right. Why not give him a security escort? For that matter, why haven't both him and the Commander RedShirt been under constant security escort so that they don't escape?
2- The computer was supposed to monitor LaForge's position constantly. Right. Good idea. Now, wouldn't it have been logical for the computer to mention at the exact moment Geordi dispeared? The computer waited until somebody asked about him.. that's not constant monitoring!!
3- When they go check on LaForge in the holodeck. They start searching the program for Geordi. That's right. The recreation of a whole colony. What happened to "Computer, End Program"?!?!?!
4- When Invisible to Eye and Sensor Geordi gets to the transporter room, the door opens up for him. Hey, what happened to Invisible to Eye and Sensor? How the door detected him?

That is being monitored, it's simply not timely reporting. Could be that the computer was extremely literal in this case.

I think a case of "Captain, the subject being monitored has disapeared from the Ship" would have been appropriate.

I mean, I understand not having reports every 5 minutes. But if the monitored subject disapear, the computer should report it, you now, IMMEDIATELY.

Why, if it wasn't told to? That's the problem with computers - they do exactly what you tell them to do, and if you don't tell them to sound an alert if someone disappears, then they won't.

I don't like incompetence argument, but it is what happens when civilians try to simulate military situation without asking military for advice.

Honestly this is one of the primary reasons for the UFP's troubles. They are a military... run by civilians...

I was originally talking about production staff but it works for in-universe perspective as well.
