There was also the battle in ST VI:TUC, where we don't know how far the BoP was compared to the E-A or the Excelsior.
We saw the ships fire, and then the target get hit, but never in the same frame, conveying the sense of distances above what we usually see in ST...

You could blanket the area with (insert particle) to drown their sensors.
You could jam their communications.
You could use a series of micro jumps to constantly attack from different angles.
You could actually use the Z axis.
You could use unmanned shuttles as diversions, as big antimatter bombs, or any number of things.
You could use your transporter to either beam stuff aboard an enemy ship OR beam away critical components like say.......the warp core.
You could use a controlled flat spin to minimize the damage any one ship may take, and bring all your weapons to bear as well.
You could hide in ships blind spots.
You could get in so tight they can't use torps for risk of damaging themselves.
You could use your transporter or tractor beams to deflect incoming torps.
You'd then be as immobile as your target and as easy to hit;
Except that your sensors could be affected as well;
And they could jam yours, although in a one-on-one fight I don't see much of an advantage;
But then you'd have to re-acquire your target after each jump, just as they would, and you'd have as much trouble tracking them as they would tracking you;
Against enemies who often have a 720 degree arc of fire, not a big advantage;
No transporter use through shields, which your opponents will most likely have up, and if not, then just fire away;
Not bad, may work;
You'd have to know the ship's blindspots in order to hide in them;
Then you'd be unable to use Torps yourself;
Torps are shielded, so no Transporters, and how fast must the tractor beam be to even catch a torpedo?
The truth always depends on which side of the fence you're standing... ;)

WE did in the final shot, of the E-A and Excelsior firing on the BoP just before it exploded.
You'd then be as immobile as your target and as easy to hit;
Which is a net advantage if you're up against a more manoeuvrable opponent.
Except that your sensors could be affected as well;
Again, an advantage if your opponent's sensors are better than yours.
And they could jam yours, although in a one-on-one fight I don't see much of an advantage;
It stops them calling in their mates.
But then you'd have to re-acquire your target after each jump, just as they would, and you'd have as much trouble tracking them as they would tracking you;
You could program your weapons to fire in the direction of the enemy ship as soon as you drop out of warp - you'd know exactly where you were going to finish, while they wouldn't. This is the basis of the Picard Manoeuvre.
Against enemies who often have a 720 degree arc of fire, not a big advantage;
720 degree arc of fire eh? :lol: Against ships with their weapons concentrated on a single plane, even if they have others, it would be an advantage.
No transporter use through shields, which your opponents will most likely have up, and if not, then just fire away;
Transporters would, however, allow more precise targeting of key systems. For a demonstration of how effective this can be, see "Dark Frontier".
Then you'd be unable to use Torps yourself;
Not a great loss if your ship is biased towards energy weapons while your opponent is biased towards torpedoes.
Torps are shielded, so no Transporters, and how fast must the tractor beam be to even catch a torpedo?
It depends on whether you're trying to catch the torps or have them run into the beam, as in "The Battle".
