Nitpick here - season 2 of TNG is 2365. Seventy-five years earlier is 2290 - three years before Khitomer.
Interesting. Well the 75 years is an exact quote from the "The Emissary" therefore unfortunatly canon.......maybe she rounded a bit but why someone would round up or down to 75 remains a mystery. Maybe "Klingon" years? How long are those?
I'm not sure what you're getting at here - I'm not saying the number is wrong, I'm pointing out that the cruiser must have left before Khitomer, not afterwards.

So, DS9 called it a war. Q called it a war and Worf agreed. How is it possible that people here question that there was a war.

Don't get stuck with the Q-Argument because I agree that the ravings of a known liar is the weaker argument and it is true that he could have revered to a lost cold war, much like one could say the soviet union lost the cold war but you are dismissing a whole episode - namely "The Emissary" - were we get specific information about the war namely that it happened and even roughly when it took place.
If we accept this episode as true than it follows that Q also told the truth.

It seems that the time between ST6 and TNG was indeed an interesting one, shame that nothing more is known about it.

I'm not "stuck" on Q's language, but I agree with you that it should be taken as relatively truthful due to Worf's lack of protest. What I'm saying is that Q could truthfully use the term "war" and might not mean an actual declared state of conflict - it could correctly refer to the skirmishes and isolated incidences we discussed.

"stuck" was probably the wrong word for it, I apologize, it just seemed to me that you are just dismissing most of the argument and are concentrating on a rather minor point.

I agree altough that if we view Q's words alone that you are quite correct.

Again, the term 'war' stands out. If declared so then it must be...

There may very well have been a minor war with the Klingons, or some faction of them. Hell, with the DW in DS9 looming over everything, sandwiched between Borg attacks, it's pretty easy to forget the short lived "Klingon Conflict" we had. Maybe something along those lines.

Too many Admirals for a lowly MCPO to argue with... It would sure be neat to know more about this war...what precipitated it, the casualties, how peace was established...

That is actually a good point altough I find that the writers handled it a bit clumsily. I am not sure but I believe they went from allied, to declared state of war and back to full allied within two or three episodes.

But I always found this conflict interesting nevertheless because I always wondered how the UFP would handle an ally who is still everything they aren't, warlike and out conquering minor races. Since this is the only instance this happens I assume the UFP either turns a blind eye to everything the klingons do or the klingons became quite tame in TNG.

Fast-forward to DS9. The UFP was willing to face down their "allies" when Gowron decided to attack the Detapa Council against the UFP's wishes.

Congratulations, Ensign. :)

Now, get back to work! This place doesn't clean itself like the Enterprise-D may or may not have done! Here's your toothbrush; I want to see my reflection in that deck plating!

I shit you not, this happened. The contractor working for me had brought in a crew to vacuum up the ash in our windboxes after they removed the burners in one of our boilers. Well this crap was everywhere and their crew was up with their hoses sucking it all up. Well one member of the crew was working outside the boiler with a shovel, trying to sweep up the ash... on diamond plate. I would have said something but I was afraid he might go do something important.
