Self-Cleaning Galaxy Class

Post by Bryan Moore »

According to Riker in the second season episode "Up the Long Ladder," the ship cleans itself. What does that entail, I wonder? Robotic maids? Beaming dirt into matter storage? I could see a great slapstick episode of the automatic vaccuum malfunctioning sucking up Spot.

This is one of the things I too always wondered about.

Remember those robots in The Fifth Element that cleaned Zorg's office? I figure something like that.

I agree. Dust and anything airborne is probably sucked by the air ventilation or something similar. Actual cleaning off the grime and dirt is probably done by cleaning robots. Something like this is the far fetched since there are robot vacuum cleaners and lawn mowers.

Just remember to never replicate them any clothes, or the captain will be royally pissed at you.

I like that idea. We talking little Kebler Elves or evil Drow? Or hopefully something between.

None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

I like the idea of hot, topless elf maids, but hey. That might just be me.

I'd go with Zorg-esque cleaning robots, as mentioned.

Given the number of times we saw people subsequently cleaning up... how often did we see people putting dishes back in the replicator? Hell, remember Keiko bitching about Miles leaving his socks all over the place? She decided to leave them, and a week went by until a big pile of socks accumulated.

So much for the self cleaning ship.

Well, that is house work stuff. I thought we were talking about general cleanup, like grime, dirt, and all the fun stuff that collects on walls and floors.

On the other hand it could be possible that since crewmen are basically Space Sailors that they would be cleaning up the ship. A Duty Section would clean up for example a deck. Junior Officers or enlisted could be tasked during the Gamma Shift to clean up the bridge.
