*Shrug* That's a given. Like it or not they seem to be canon. Bitch all we want they're there. I'm more interested in trying to make it work.

The presence of cetacean crew isn't canon at all. IIRC, that label is only from the TM, which makes it as canon as my statement that the E-D is powered by fairy dust and unicorn blood.

We may very well have, but in Trek what something is called isn't always what something really is. Hell, just look at an LCARS display.

And, even the great eps have a little nugget of idiocy. Figures - they cut Wes' head getting lopped off like a pomegranate, but gave us a line about aquatic mammals running an ops department.

Maybe not Mikey, maybe they were transporting something. There were 40 billion dead at this point. If the water-boys were in danger, maybe the UFP sent the E-D to save some. Or maybe there was a study tank. Since the entire series never showed them in operation, even more important since they are the "pilots" of the ship... Common sense says that they weren't part of the ships crew or even normal payload.
