Or he could have just not gone up to the Horus's ship in the first place. Wasn't there a fleet of Space Wolves on their way that was going to turn the tide of the battle? Just wait a while and everything will sort itself out.

I thought it was Sanguinius who got to Horus first, and the Emperor arrived after he was killed. Another blithering idiot who didn't wait for backup.
