Well, I am about to finish my studies to become an elementary school teacher, yes. And I am a "hobby historian".

Well, I wouldn't call it the "safe route" - Look at Marla McGivers! Look at Deanna Troi who crashed the Enterprise! And I don't consider teaching Alexander, Son of Worf a "safe route".
