What if.........

Post by Mark »

Suppose for a minute, that in The Best of Both Worlds that the deflector pulse had succeeded in destroying the Borg cube, and Captain Picard along with it. How would the universe under Captain William T. Riker of the Starship Enterprise have differed from the one that we know. We got a little taste of this when Worf did his little dimensional hopping, but let's take it to the next level. Share your thoughts...........

The entire crew perish as slaves in the Feregni mines in Rascals cause little Picard isn't there to bail them out.

Well, we know in one reality Worf gets promoted to first officer, Wesley becomes the tacticle officer, a cardassian takes the helm, and Worf marries Troi.

But if FC still happened they might not be able to stop the cube, the Ba'ku incident would have ended with a few QT's being used as the universal sign of protest, and Shinzon would've gotten a severe beating.

I think Riker might have done ok. FC would have been a loss though.

Over all up until some point were Picard dues ex machina'ed the solution to a big problem Riker would make a fine commander.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

One thing about TNG is that if you took any of them out of the equation all woulda died at one point or another. Whereas ENT if you took say.. Mayweather out of the equation who would notice?
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Not the scriptwriters! :P

But seriously, folks... I agree with some here that FC would be the reals rumbling block. The E-E would have been at the battle from the beginning, and could very easily have been pulverized by an undamaged cube

Or the added fire power of the Sov could very well have tilted the battle in SFs favor.

With "Look at Me" Riker in charge, she would have been the first and largest object in any Borg crosshair.

Sure did, when fired into an already-injured location on a weakened cube. I wouldn't guarantee that the effect would be the same on a cube that hadn't yet been fired upon.

Shows a strong improvement on SFs weapons as a larger fleet at 359 did no damage at all.

Just thinking out loud is all.

A few years ago SF couldn't hurt a Cube no matter what they did. Now they have weapons strong enough even to hurt a Cube even if its adapting to their weapons. On the top of that the E-Es QTs seemed to be a huge cut against the Borg. As if the Borg couldn't adapt to them. Why is it that Earth still doesn't have a ODP network?
