Graham's Galaxy Class Diplomatic Capability

Post by Bryan Moore »

75 x Ambassadorial quarters at 250 square metres each.
2,250 x Staff quarters at 30 - 80 square metres each
4 x 2,500 square metre conference hall complexes for 600 guests each
75 x 150 square metre 40 seat briefing rooms
75 x Independant communications facilities
30% of all facilities, including interconnecting corridors, capable of supporting H, K, or L environments
Facilities for up to 400 members of the press
This might be one of the few things on the site that doesnt' make sense to me.

75 Ambasadorial quarters at 250 meters each would give 18,750 square meters of quarters reserved for ambassadors! Rounding down, thats 18 square km of quarters. That would be a room 100mx180m This does not even begin to count the 2250 staff quarters at 30-80 square meters each?! How is this possible? This seems absurdly high.\

*This is not to be an annoying nitpicking prick. I truly just am having trouble conceptualizing how this is possible.

Err, nope - it's about 18/1000 of a square km.

The maximum total area of the diplomatic facilities mentioned is 220,000 square metres .

The Galaxy's saucer section has a volume of 3,829,567 cubic m which, with 4m decks, gives a total area of just under a million square metres. Plenty of space for the required facilities.

Uh, no it wouldn't. A square kilometre is 1000m X 1000m. Not 1000m.

What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

So I farked this math up big time, but you're still looking at an exceptional amount of space. 18,000 square meters is roughly the equivalent of the average square footage of about American homes, just reserved for diplomatic quarters. Add the other quarters, and its still a lot of space. I guess I'm just having difficulty conceptualizing this. I stated in a five-star hotel once, in a huge room that was probably 12x10 meters or 120 square meters. You're telling me that the Enterprise has staterooms that are potentially 10x25 meters?! That's a LOT of space for one diplomat.

Absolutely, but those quarters looked nowhere near 250 square meters. I mean assuming that his quarters are 30 feet deep (look more like 15-20), that'd mean they'd be 75 feet long.

Those were the standard crew qtrs though. Someone high up would get something several times that size.
