That would work out just fine if the dampers on board fail and the crew becomes paste on the innerhull.

The Excalibur had a perfect OOU excuse - SFX weren't up to showing the type of damage that would kill the whole crew. The same doesn't apply to Wolf 359.

Thats why we have to find IU reasons like above. It may suck but the Trek writers seem to enjoy doing this to us.

So ALL the inertial dampers on ALL the realtively intact ships failed at the SAME time, as the ships were going to warp even though engaged in a battle?

Right, fine. Anyway, what precisely does this have to do with me mentioning an OOU inconsistency?

The OOU problem is the writers, IU is dampers or life support.

I... never noticed the conditions of the ships, actually. I was just too overwhelmed by shock at the loss.

A lot fo the ships at Wolf 359 only have burn marks. Voyager had far worse damage at times.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Well, Voyager had one thing that those ships didn't: a built-in reset button.
