It may be easier but is it better?

The Romulans dont strike me as the type of guys to just take the easy way out.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Exactly. A jack-of-all-trades ship will always be beaten at any task by a ship purposefuly designed for that task.

Which is why the D'D always comes out last. They have to out number any ship they go against and the D'D is just to big and costly to hope to out number everyone everytime. Where this ship is a great thing against weaker powers as its not a bad ship mind you. It fails to match the abilities of the warships of the other great powers.
