It was according to Graham... but I think it was too large to actually be used as a ship-borne fighter.

That's what I thought. Ok.

It would probably fit in a shuttle bay. Just not easily.

Wow 9 members online now. I think thats our record.

He indicates that they were fed ships of some sort, possibly civilianized. But not proper fighters. More like strapping weapons on your truck.

In cannon the Maquis use a "courier ship" Federation design like a fighter.

It has been theorized that this courier ship design was evolved into the Peregrine we see fighting in DS9 in order to be a cheap and easy way to add to the force.

The Mquis "raider" is designed differently, and is larger, thatn the Peregrine fighter. I think that's Fact Files speculation or some such.

A Peregrine class ship that was a courier being used as a fighter by the Maquis is cannon.

Labeling the Federation fighter we see in DS9 as a Peregrine class is the speculation as the fighter is never named on screen and the Peregrine comment was just dialogue.

That's as may be - I thought you/we were referring to the mis-identification of the Chakotay-style ship with the "peregrine"-type fighter. IIRC, Fact Files or some other publication actually once identified Wesley's academy trainer as on or the other, too.

It could just be a generic term for small craft.

Usually military-style organizations are a tad more specific than that. It's fairly important.

Destoryer refers to many different ships. Same with battleship. It could be in the same spirit as that.

I suppose. Anyone have any canon on specific names for these types of small craft?
