All I'm thinking watching this is that Chuck started celebrating Christmas early.

Well, to be fair to Kirk, it is an act on his part.

I love that they added a warbird in the remastered edition. Even when I was a kid, something about them using Klingon ship models bothered me.

Screws up the fan theory about the Klingons trading them for cloaking tech.

No, there are still two D-7s, but they added in a warbird; it doesn't trash established canon, just adds in a ship that should have been present to begin with.

Yes having the war bird there was very nice because the Romulans should have had more of those than the D7 Klingon battle cruisers.
