Or she didn't think of it, which would be in character for her.

Kirk would put on a environmental suit to deal with a virus.

Janeway strapped on a ka-bar to deal with a virus.

Frankly I'm surprised she didn't stop in a bathroom to use the knife handle for something else. She seemed to have a lot of pent up tension if you get my drift, at least till Seven showed up.

Pardon me, need to go scrub my brain now.

Guys, I did not need that mental image in my brain.
Five minutes back from France, and already things are back to normal. :P

The environmental suit would be useless against the big virus's. IE, the huge ones.

They didn't start big. And in any event, when someone says "virus" my first reaction would be for the e-suit over a ka-bar.

But she had already met the big version when she had gotten the knife.

And what, pray tell, are you really going to do to a a meter-wide virus with a 7" knife? Kill it? It's technically not even alive - it's a virus!

Correct, as seen on several times through my marathon. Those and the phaser rifles they had back then... He'd handle them.

Man, can't wait to get to VOYY...

Not nessessarily. How often does Janeway get to run around the ship outfitted like Rambo in a tank top? This is most likely along the same lines as why didn't they send a shuttle down to pick up Sulu and Co. in The Enemy Within

I almost think there were more environmental/hazmat suits used in TOS than in TNG, DSN and VOY combined. I would not be surprised if I was wrong, but something tells me...
