Here's the basic hull configuration based on the OP. Have I got the basic idea right, and how do the proportions look?

Its not a ball primary hull, its a disk shaped one, think of a smaller, pre-refit Constitution-class primary hull, there's no neck, thats one of the main differences between 22nd/23rd century deisgns. Proportions are right, and the deflector dish is on the engineering hull.

Saucer primary. With the dimensions you gave, it's impossible to have enough overlap between the primary and secondary hull. I'd like to increase the length of the nacelles significantly....

Alright...how about 150 meter long nacelles, and the Primary Hull is 20% backwards on the secondary hull for a better overlap?

There were three Vulcans in the party. Two males, one who looked like he was entering a human's middle age, a younger one who was slightly taller than him. The female was a attractive with short brown hair, she also looked like the youngest of the trio.

"Live long and prosper," Ambassador Soval, the Vulcan with graying black hair said, holding up his hand in the traditional Vulcan greeting.

"Likewise," Forrest said, returning the gesture and he and the party began walking. "How was the trip from Vulcan to Earth this time, Soval?"

"Uneventful and pleasant," Soval replied as the four walked. "How is the construction of your starship coming along, Admiral?"

"We should be ready to launch by the end of the week," Forrest said as they continued to walk. "The first Earth vessel capable of speeds greater than Warp Five "

"Indeed," Soval said as they kept walking. They stopped at a nearby window, and looked at the primary hull for the Enterprise. The MAC Cannons were clearly visible in turrets around the hull, and near the bridge were the laser cannons. "How is Captain Archer preparing for his command?"

"Last I checked, he was having a stay in Tokyo, Japan to speak with his primary linguist, Hoshi Sato."

Soval nodded. "I suggest you warn him to be weary outside the system. Nausican attacks on shipping have increased."

"Understood," Forrest said, watching some of the workers wield another, heavier plate of duranium hull plating onto the primary hull.

Humanity's first, true step into space might hit a little bump, especially if Nausicans were increasing their raids. When he was still the captain of the Intrepid, he had to deal with several anti-pirate raids.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deep Space, United Earth Independent Freighter Black Hawk
The bulky, 340 meter long freighter ship cruised through warp at a comfortable Warp 3. Ever since the new engines came in for the freighters, trips were cut down from five years to nearly 10 months, even less at maximum warp. The Black Hawk was a UES freighter, charged with carrying lithium to Earth and its colonies from out of the Sol System. Yet they enjoyed a lot of autonomy compared to other ships in the merchant fleet. Lithium was the primary fuel for the new matter/anti-matter engines that were being produced for the new NX-class.

Captain Toros walked from the main cargo bay into the bridge. In his hand was a cup of coffee. "What is the ETA to the Sol System guys?"

"Five more hours Captain," Commander Rob replied from the console.

"I can't wait to get into some actual water for a swim instead of cooling off in those showers," Lieutenant Anna said with a groan, rubbing her neck. "You can only take spaceflight so far in comfort, can you?"

"You knew what you were getting into," Toros said with a grin. He sipped the coffee, and leaned back on the captain's chair.

Suddenly, it was as if they were hit. The entire ship surged forth and consoles started sparking. Another hit, and another console blew out and alarm klaxons began screaming.

"What the hell just happened?" Toros snapped, his coffee splashing onto the ground as another impact hit.

Another hit and another console was blown out. "Sir! We've got five Nausican Raiders off our port bow!"

"Get the shields up! Power up the turrets!"

Another impact hit the ship's hull, making one of the cargo pods explode. The entire ship shuttered, and finally the plasma net shielding went up. The Nausican's laser strikes impacted on the shield as coolant started leaking from the destroyed pod. The mass driver and plasma turrets began locking onto the Nausican ships. One of the Nausican Raiders swooped down, its forward laser turrets firing.

"See you in hell," Rob muttered from the targeting screen on the bridge. The turrets he was controlling all locked onto the Raider, and fired. Bolts of plasma and shells zoomed in, being deflected on the Raider's shield. "Shield on aft target down 50%...another salvo should do it "

He squeezed the triggers lightly, sending another salvo at the injured Raider. The wing shaped craft's shields buckled, and then one of the shells slammed into the hull, tearing it to shreds. Rob fired again, blasting away the Raider's hull with plasma and shells. He loaded the nuke shell into the hull breach of the raider. The shell exploded, blowing the raider into five pieces.

The surviving four Raiders dodged the fire, two getting hit directly by MAC shells, and they jumped back into warp. The captains of the vessels knew it was only a matter of time until they could claim their prize.
On the bridge of the Black Hawk, Toros and Rob worked to put out the fires that were raging from the destroyed consoles. The captain went over to Anna, and felt her pulse. She was badly burned, half her face was just a black scar with dead skin chipping off.

"Rob, we have to get her to sickbay," Toros said as he slung his lieutenant onto his shoulder.

Rob opened the door and the three hobbled out. There were several fires still raging over the ship, and the rest of the freighter's crew were trying to fight the fires. The three managed to get to sickbay, and their chief medical officer, a middle aged human with balding hair, named James Parsons rushed over. The sickbay was filled with injured; most of the medical beds had a crewmember on them.

"Would someone mind telling me what happened?" James asked as he pressed the hypospray to Anna's neck to try to ease her pain.

"Another Nausican raid, they hit us harder this time. Instead of one or two Raiders, there were five. We managed to destroy one to drive them off," Toros said as the doctor began to work on the lieutenant.

"Great, I thought we lost them in that nebula," James grunted, getting some dermal regeneration cream onto Anna's burns.

Toros nodded, gritting his teeth as he walked over to the com. "Sickbay to engineering, give me the status of our engines!"

"Both Warp Reactors are off line captain! We're dead in the water!"

"Estimated time to repair?" Toros asked.

"We have enough supplies to get the impulse drive back on line, but the Warp Reactors need to be either replaced, or we need to be towed to a starbase for full repairs."

Toros swore. "We'll have to get the beacon activated hopefully some of our Starfleet friends can help "

Being a freighter captain, Toros hated to rely on Starfleet to keep his ship in order. He liked operating under some autonomy, even though he had a United Earth symbol painted onto his ship. Slamming his fist into the bulkhead, he walked off.

Very exciting here. What'll happen to the Black Hawk?
