Short story competition
Just trying to gauge the interest... what if we decided to have a short story competition? Come up with something pretty specific for a story to be about and then have anybody who wants write say two thousand words or less on it.
I'm thinking something like "write about a captain who has just lost his ship in the Dominion war", or "write about a day in the life of a Jem'Hadar:, or something. But it doesn't have to be Trek related, could be any science fiction, or anything else for that matter.
Who'd be up for it? I don't really want to start something like this only to have one or two entries.

Give a man a fire, and you keep him warm for a day. SET a man on fire, and you will keep him warm for the rest of his life...

Hmm... 2000 words... That's about two or three pages...
I think I'd be up to the challenge.

[proper] hardly true, my good man. i have, in my years, been labeled as a troubadour with certain qualities which allow me to "kick a$$", as the expression goes. [/proper]I Am Spartacus wrote:Just a heads up, I'll pwn you all.

There's no need to be hostile. I wasn't attacking you. I was asking a question. Take a few minutes and relax.Drake Zure wrote:because i'm 18I Am Spartacus wrote:In all seriousness, if you're that good why aren't you published yet?
what's your excuse?
And age isn't much of an inhibition. Literary agencies will represent an author and publishers will publish said author if he is capable of writing a genuinely good book. You don't know until you try. Obviously writing is a hobby for you, and I suggest you should kick around the idea of firing off query letters to agents. It's a long and arduous process, but if you are genuinely good (and have put your works out there for objective criticism), there's no reason whatsoever you couldn't get published. No professional agent or publisher would reject someone on the basis of age.
