Avatar trouble

I've been having a bitch of a time uploading a new av. I've tried direct URL's and uploading from Photobucket - which had always worked in the past and is in fact the source of my current av - but now I just get "Avatar couldn't be uploaded" or "Must be less than 17k"... which it is. Any thoughts?

Is it also inside the size parameters?

*UPDATE* Still nothing. Is the option to enter a URL for an image still working, or do I have to save the pic to my HD and upload it from there?

I don't think either way will work. It doesn't have access to write to the required folder. Looking at it now.

You know, this is a relatively minor concern. There's no real need for you to spend your time on this when I already have a perfectly serviceable avatar.

Try saving the file and uploading it from local storage.

That did it... but I'm using a "requisitioned" laptop right now, and might have personal files removed with little notice.
