Testing please

Post by IanKennedy »

Please can you test a new design of the site I'm working on. This design would do away with virtually all graphics used for Menu buttons, Titles and other such items. This will mean two things:
  • - The site will work considerably faster for the user (as there is no graphics files to download).
    - We will not need to create buttons for each and every link we add to the site (meaning that we can concentrate on actual content rather than graphics).
I need people to test the following page:
You should find that the top strip and menus appear almost instantly and that the titles on the page are shown right away.
Anyhow, for testing please let me know the following:
  • - The platform you are using (e.g. Macintosh, Windows, Linux, iPhone etc).
    - The operating system you are using (e.g. MacOS X, Windows 95, Windows XP, Vista etc).
    - What web browser and version you are using (e.g. Internet Explorer 7.0, Firefox 2.0.11, Safari 3.01, Opera 9.01 etc).
    - if the text on the top strip fits the buttons.
If the text on the buttons seems wrong or cutoff in some fashion please can you provide a picture.
Thanks
Ian

Using windows XP pro with IE 7 the first test pops up almost instantly, usually the bar loads left to right and you can see every bottun pop up, this time the top two tows appeared then the bottom row like half a second latter.

Are the buttons well formed? Do you see all of the text on the buttons?

Looks pretty much identical. If it wasnt for the fact that I was specifically watching it I wouldnt have even noticed.

tried this at a work computer that is very very slow and it came up right off Ian. the only thing (and i think its the computer) is the text is a bit oversized on the buttons. I will test this on my home computer later :)

I did find that on lower resolution, 1024x768, 1280x1024, the wording is a tad big on the buttons.

Beautifully fast, but same text problem as mentioned above. The words for the buttons are a good 3 times too large. Sorry, but I can't get a pic of it yet... can't remember photobucket account.

Yes I do. I'm running an HP with Windows XP and IE 7. If that helps(?)
