Re: "Star Trek: Picard" Teaser
Jonathan Frakes' Next Project. nothing is known about any tng guest stars? No. Frakes is the only one I've seen dropping hints like this. But it's unclear if he's going to direct and/or guest star in the show. Frakes also posted this image previously: https://i.imgur.com/w3JhCTG.jpg Still unclear t...

Re: "Star Trek: Picard" Teaser
D'oh! Apparently I edited out my own point. I was trying to say Discovery is not JJ-verse.IanKennedy wrote:And yet the producers specifically say it is not JJ-verse. Repeatedly. They are legally required for it not to be also.
I've fixed the post

Re: On Reconciling Visual Style with Narrative Continuity
In short: "If Memory Serves" demonstrates Discovery handled visual canon the best of all series and opens a new (better?) way to deal with canon: "Canon" is for the characters, "visuals" are for the audience. This only works if one assumes that events and characters ar...

Re: "Star Trek: Picard" Teaser
this is just them testing the waters if there is even any interest in continuing the prime timeline. I doubt that. I think this is more about trying to trick people into thinking the Discovery/JJ-verse timeline IS the original Trek timeline. Here's my prediction : during the first season, we will s...

Re: "Star Trek: Picard" Teaser
I really got nothing from that trailer. What are we as Trek fans expecting? Is it a sci fi political series? Is it some sort of last hurrah for him? Is it passing the torch? What is this about? "A combination of all 3."[/Bogart] It's a teaser and we're complaining the trailer didn't give ...

Re: "Star Trek: Picard" Teaser
I got the feeling it was a short run and one series only. I don't know why. But if it will only run for one season....interesting concept from a business point of view. Now I am nowhere near a Hollywood executive but I wonder what you can expect from a one series 10 episodes show.... To be honest.....

On Reconciling Visual Style with Narrative Continuity
I was pondering this on another Star Trek group but discussion was pretty mediocre. I'm apparently one of the few here watching Discovery and appreciating it for what it is and I know a large issue in the fan community is "Everything looks so different!" I started re-thinking about this af...

Re: How Discovery Tries to Fit Continuity
Counterpoint: It does. There's nothing to contradict it, and there's more than enough room in the 23rd century for multiple starship adventures.Graham Kennedy wrote:It doesn't.

Re: "Star Trek: Picard" Teaser
So, the Picard vinyard has robots flying all over it now. Uh huh. And the big rescue armada they're talking about... that's gonna be a rescue effort for Romulus because of the nova. Meaning that the single biggest plot reveal of the trailer is that Picard is being linked into the JJ-verse. Yeah. I ...

Re: Star Wars Episode IX – Teaser (Spoilers)
Rebuttal to the ew.com article above. No One Cares About The Knights of Ren in ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens wasn’t a terrible movie. It had a great cast and tons of individual moments full of fun dynamism, two strengths of its director J.J. Abrams. But it was also...

What Is "Real Trek"?
Like it says on the tin: How do you define Real Trek tm ? I keep seeing this thrown around on both this site and other Star Trek fan communities when it comes to Discovery and the new series' in development, so what is it? How do you know it? Is TNG Trek in name only because they copied the names &q...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery - Season 2 Trailer
Why can't we just accept that film-making and budgets have changed over 50-years and that it can still be Star trek as long as the narrative elements remain the same? For example, is ToS the story of ground-breaking visuals of the 23rd century or is it the stories of The Adventures of Captain Kirk a...
