The thing that came to mind was the girls with very similar staff weapons and to an extent poses.

But I guess it was just me.

Re: Trek XIII general news and rumours

If it was intended as a compliment, you would think they'd have taken five minutes to give the guy a call and ask about it first. They did. The selected the move as a homage to Takei, they then called him up expecting him to be overjoyed. Instead Takei has proven to be quite loyal to Gene's vision....

Re: Popular Mechanics article

That pipe in TOS always puzzled me, too. Whenever I see it, I can't help but wonder if it's some kind of access shaft. It seems big enough for a person to walk down, or perhaps crawl down. But... the thing it accesses seems to be accessible from within the ship, so what would be the point? The blue...

Re: Popular Mechanics article

The one with the blue glowing thing under it? I think it's inspired by the whatever it was the Enterprise had there : I can't think of anything indicating what that thing was. However what it reminds me of is something I know as a "power bulge" which you see on the hood of some cars. http...

Re: Popular Mechanics article

What's with the tube in the middle? Is it supposed to be a turbo lift? If so its huge, bigger than the bridge. Here's my theory on that. So a seemingly increasingly common feature on cruise ships is what at least some of them call a centrum. I suppose that term comes from "central atrium"...

Re: Popular Mechanics article

Hey, it turns out that popular mechanics posted the image on their site http://www.popularmechanics.com/culture/movies/a21522/star-trek-beyond-uss-enterprise-cutaway/ (Scroll down a bit). I find it interesting that the USS Franklin is stated to be an early prototype and the first Warp 4 ship, yet it...

Re: Brexit

Odd that you'd have a "just for giggles" vote. In every case I can think of in the states, the legal angles had been sorted out by the time people are heading to the polls and the outcome of the vote determines the outcome of whatever it was.

Popular Mechanics article

I'm unsure of site policies with regard to scanned copywritten "exclusive" material, so I'm not linking anything, but you all know how to use search engines if you choose. Anyway in the July issue I'm holding they've got cutaways of the Enterprise, the USS Franklin, and the Krall Swarm shi...

Re: Brexit

I'm hoping the democrats take note of this and reign in their official stance of ignoring immigration laws to get more of them before we end up with president Trump. I've never been even slightly loyal to the concept of my nation anyway I think that's part of the stereotype of your generation and pr...

Re: Brexit

People saying that those who have to live with the fall out the least supported it the most, but also the people who had to put up with the EU the most are the ones who voted to leave it. Interesting angle. However the portrayal in the news in the US is that while there are a number of factors on b...

Re: Is the future bereft of culture?

There are quite a few subspace issues that have come up over the years. There was the silly warp travel damaging the fabric of space thing but we've seen other anomalies too. Check out this sci-tech page: http://www.ditl.org/scitech-page.php?ScitechID=34&ListID=Sci-tech So I noted something int...
